, to compare it to barack obama, he won in 2008. hillary clinton won texas, california, ohio, pennsylvania. and he should have been the winner. we changed the rules in '88 and we democratized democracy to lay the groundwork for that. to run, i learned a lot. i inspire people to run for office at every level. but somewhere along the way, changing the rules, plus inspiration was a big factor where we are today. and just about what you just said, you talked about how your run set the table for other things. you didn't win the presidency, but you ran '84, dinkins won in '85, right. you ran in '88. it seems to me, there was concrete impact. you also changed the rules. it changes because of that equation. i think it also changed possible to thinking. if he can do that, why can't women get on the ticket? if i can do that, why can't other people do it? the whole idea was to be a capitalist for a change. to be some ray of hope for tomorrow. and the big idea could a black run, should a black run? by the time 2008 had come around, we'd knocked down the walls to build the bridges for today. >> surrend

president obama's health care law as ktvu kyla campbell reports. 80 house republicans wrote a letter to their leader, kyla. >> reporter: dave, more than one-third of house republicans asked speaker boehner to avoid any budget deal that helps implement obama care. this is setting up a fiscal fight for the fall. a new budget is due september 30th and the very next day health care exchange opens so people can shop for insurance. if the republican controlled house tries to defund obama care, it's all but certain the democratic controlled senate won't sign on and neither would president obama. it's doubtful lawmakers would come one a long-term budget in september. they are only scheduled to work in washington for two weeks. leaders from both parties hinted a temporary extension of the current budget giving them a few extra months to agree on a long-term spending plan and avoid a government shut down. here's a look at the letter the house republicans sent speaker john boehner. they are calling obama care aegirines. i will explain their reasoning at 7:15. >>> today president obama continue

in syria, president obama said today he is weighing limited and narrow action against the regime. he said syria has endangered the national security of the united states and has violated established norms against the use of chemical weapon. the obama administration said 1,429 people were killed in last week's chemical weapons attack, including 426 children. so far, the president has not asked congress for approval for a military strike and france is the only major foreign power to support retaliation. president obama contends there is no excuse for killing innocent people, including such large numbers of women and children. still opposition to an attack on syria is widespread both around the world and here at home. as john tells us, the president is facing a real predicament. >> reporter: an east bay physician that lived in syria as a child and visited family there as recently as five years ago. >> it's near and dear to my heart. >> reporter: the chic weapons attack on the syrian people hit him hard. >> my heart bleeds for all of these kids, women and families that have lost their lives.
